Solid Waste

Solid Waste pickup services are provided to every resident and business within the Sangaree Special Tax District. All residents are provided one roll cart as part of the services. Prior to acquiring Capitol Waste Services (CWS) as our solid waste provider, residents were not able to obtain additional roll carts for waste. With the new provider and contract, residents may now purchase additional carts by contacting CWS. This change ensures a fairness for all residents as well as lower costs to the tax district and residents.

CWS can ask for, but is not offered, a 4% increase each year. Between the first and second year of Sangaree’s contract, they did not request this increase. Damaged roll carts will be replaced at no cost by CWS. Sangaree can assist with replacing the primary roll carts if they are damaged. Additional roll carts must be replaced by contacting CWS directly.

What About Recyling?

Did you know that recycling happens automatically for all Berkeley County residents? In 2018, RePower South began building their Berkeley County Recycling and Recovery facility in Moncks Corner. Automated systems sort out recyclable materials from solid waste. Check out this YouTube video to see the state of the art system at work! For more information, check out RePower South’s web site here.

Historical Costs

In the past five years, the commission and tax district have worked hard to minimize cost increases. As such, we have seen a very small overall increase of 3.4% over the past five years. Please keep in mind that actual costs vary based on current occupancy of homes in Sangaree.

Yes! ALL debris for chipping MUST be curbside no later than 7:00 am Monday morning. Please note the following:

  • Chipping starts on Monday each week, but may take several days depending on how much pickup is in the community. During certain times, chipping services may run all week as needed.
  • Limbs must not exceed four inches in diameter
  • Cut out forks and stack in a pile
  • Cut ends should be facing the street
  • Trunks, logs, root balls, and anything larger than four inches in diameter WILL NOT be picked up.

All construction debris is the responsibility of the property owner or tenant.
